More Orca Bay (Stash report)

I now have more than 250 black and white HSTs complete!  All of the wing triangles are cut as well.

Since I am doing everything out of order, I am next going to tackle the 200+ Hourglass blocks.  I will see you on the other side!

In other quilty news, I will hopefully be planning a new baby quilt (or two) for a friend who has recently gone through IVF!  She is going to her first ultrasound in about a week so perhaps I will know more then!  I am hoping for two little peanuts!

Nothing new in this week's stash report.  I doubt I will report much soon because of the work I need to do with Orca Bay!  I am still very happy with the overall fabric usage.  The net used number will surely be higher by the end of the summer.

L'Fair Quilts Acappella

I wanted to share with you the pattern for the NEXT quilt I will make!  Jaime is the creator of L'Fair Quilts, a truly amazing blog!  She is so talented and creative!  I now have a copy of Acappella and will be diving into this quilt as soon as Orca Bay is pieced (read:  I say pieced because I don't even know if I will have the patience to wait until it is totally finished!).

Can you imagine this lovely quilt in blues?  I imagine this quilt will be gorgeous in a number of colors!

Here is a link to the website to order the pattern (from Black Cat Creations) if you are interested.

Orca Bay and a Stash Report

I finally have one of the Orca Bay steps complete!

Yesterday, I also began to cut black and white strips out in preparation for the mounds of hourglass and HST blocks I need to do.  I have counted that in my stash report.  Has anyone out there seen a purple, black, grey, and white Orca Bay?  I have no idea how it is going to look!  I guess that is my one benefit from waiting until AFTER the mystery to start!

Carl's Quilt and a Stash report

I am on Easter break from school, and despite needing to study for a National Counselor Exam, I needed a break.

I finished Carl's quilt!  This is a lovely little lap sized quilt.  It is sooo warm.  I used a flannel fabric for the back and quilted it with a simple meander, making sure to stitch around all of the pockets.  When I completed that, I started on some of the Orca Bay string blocks.  Who knows how long it will take to finish the top, but the adventure is what keeps me happy.

Here is the stash report!  I have already counted my string block fabric so there is nothing new to add.

Kindness or others and another Stash Report

Quilters in blogland are so kind.  There are blogs out there that are very special to me, and I regularly comment on their blogs as they do with mine (well, I comment much less lately because of school...I guess that makes me an avid reader!)  Joan's blog, Keeping you in Stitches is one of them.   In celebration of my first basket quilt, she sent me these lovelies!

She sent me lovely fabrics in a plum shade that will balance out my Orca Bay quilt well.  She made an awesome selvage bag for me to place my sewing items when I travel.

Check out this lovely!  See the pin placed on the center of the selvage bag?  It is so gorgeous, I took a closeup!

I don't have much of a working knowledge of woodworking, but these pieces aren't painted!  I need to do a better job decorating my sewing area, and when I do this lovely will have a very prominent spot!  Thank you Joan!
