Early in the morning, this heron was walking down the river's edge looking for food. I was able to get fairly close before it was annoyed enough to walk away. I liked this picture, and wanted to give my colleague a gift to say thank you. I never have tried an art quilt before, so I had no idea where to start, other than to keep it simple.
Here it is! I kept the room dark to show the quilting better. I am pretty happy with the results! I was going to put it in a frame, but I didn't like how it looked. I will just bind it with a hanging sleeve. I would like to get it done by Wednesday, but I am not sure if that is possible.

What a wonderful gift idea! Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteYour pebbles are marvelous! I did them for the first time on my scrappy bargello, and after the first side I was pebbled out! But I pressed on and circled on and curlicued on...
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic. A future in art quilts perhaps??
You go, girl!
Art and a memory - what more can you want? Plus we just had this big discussion on art quilts in frames and I like mine as just wallhangings - where you can touch them and see the stitches.
ReplyDeleteGreat art quilt and great memories of a family trip.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a great representation of the photo - very pretty and what a thoughtful thank you gift!
ReplyDeletewhat a great vacation spot! And I love your dog. We have a Border Collie. :-) Pretty impressive first stab at an art quilt. Wow. Good work! It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhere was this vacation spot?
